With the help of local chiropractor, Dr. Aaron Nelson, and a Master Instructor from the DC area, Beth Kruper, Apple Athletic club has launched an exciting new group fitness class, called "KangooPOWER".  The class utilizes safe, low impact, rebound sport shoes, which compress on impact, preventing damaging impact to the joints and back.  The shoes, called KangooJumps, were originally developed for joggers to reduce up to 80% of the impact on joints.  In addition, a Swiss chiropodist study shows that KangooJumps correct pronation and supination, while they are being used.

Kruper states, "participants smile when they put the boots on and forget how hard they are working and leave feeling so good because of the endorphins.  The program has been received extremely well by members of the Apple Athletic Club."

The KangooPOWER program was developed in Hungary by Sport Aerobic Gymnasts and is unique and special because of the explosive plyometric nature and the sharp execution of moves.  Kruper adds, "throughout a POWER class, participants will perform cardiovascular interval training, block building format and freestyle power intervals to keep energy levels high, prevent boredom and develop coordination, agility, balance, cardiovascular output.  Participants in this workout can burn up to 30 - 40% more calories than other forms of exercise!!!"
 
Attendees become addicted to the training in a POWER workout because of the extraordinary feeling it creates, mainly due to the high release of endorphins.  The basic moves are easy to master and can be performed with growing complexity and intensity!  The workout can be performed by a broad range of attendees! Kruper notes, "I have ages ranging from 10-67 in my classes, from the beginner to the athlete!  The turnout at Apple had similar age ranges and everyone exercised together and got what they needed from the class."
