Apple Athletic Club is a SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit Class Provider

 

SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit classes are designed exclusively for older adults. These classes are tailored to improve strength, flexibility, balance and endurance.

 

A little exercise on a consistent basis is better than nothing. The unfortunate truth is physically inactive people are twice as likely to develop coronary heart disease as people who regularly are active, according to the National Institutes of Health.

 

Besides reducing your chances of developing heart problems, regular exercise can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. Exercise is also proven to better your mood through increased endorphins.

 

Classes typically involve the use of hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a small exercise ball. In some classes, a chair may be available for seating or additional support.

Joint Effort water class Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 1:00pm with Marcia (this is an aquatic class)

"The Apple Athletic Club is fantastic and the updated facility is fabulous. I joined the SilverSneakers Program for Senior Citizens in 2012. During that year I was re-diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which affects my right leg. I workout on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I have gone from 5 minutes on the recumbent bike for 35 or 40 minutes, about 2.5 miles. On the treadmill I have gone from .5 miles to 1.25 miles. I am getting ready to set a new goal of 1.5 miles. I have been able to increase my walk speed from 1.5 to 2.5 miles per hour. I also go through the short circuit workout each visit. I figure if you have it, use it, or you will lose it. Your Program Advisor, Laurie Wright, has been teaching group fitness for over 25 years.  She has been ACE group fitness certified since 1991, SilverSneaker certified since 2006, and has been Silver & Fit certified since 2013. She teaches classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings.
